Business cards design

The business card is an integral part of the good presentation. It can be said that it is the cheapest advertising that will promote your business.

Business cards are exchanged with prospective customers or potential partners from the first meeting. They may not be seen imediately, but they have to be memorizable and to be connected with thier owner's identity. This way the details of the company and its activities are being shared. Later the card will be exactly the connection between business relations. When you give a business card, you offer yourself and your services to the other person, indicating that you wish to be contacted and to work together.

So the card must be made as to fully characterize your style and to present you in the best light. There are few important things about the business cards - the material of which they are made, their design and the printing technology.

Types of Business Cards

There are different types of business cards. They can be categorized in few categories - according to the person or profession, according to the usage, according to the layout.

According to the person or profession

  • For senior managers - should contain only the name and position.
  • For senior officials and diplomats - having an address is not required. Instead of a logo there should be country flag or emblem.
  • Corporate Business cards - they can break the rules on the labeling and advertising because they are not bound to a specific person, but the whole company or deparment;
  • Personal Business Cards - free rules allow for personalized and characterized. For example: Business cards of lawyers should be strict, those for circus artists should be colorfoul, for designers should be original;

According to the usage

  • For particularly close people - they should contain just the name, no address and telephone number. But in rare circumstances the owner may be presented with a mobile phone number.
  • Formal business cards, for special occasion - they are subject of ceremonial. They contain name and title, and there is room for addition of further information written by hand;
  • Informative - this is the most common types of cards - provide basic and essential information for the owner of the company and sometimes the owner and the company, provide the earliest and most detailed information.
  • For special purpose - for example some insurers have such business cards. They are made of sticky tape - it allows to be sticked to the windshield of the insured vehicles;
  • Representative - include only general company data and most are printed for a specific event - conference, seminar, etc..;
  • One time business cards - in most cases they are combined with a discount coupon, with time and date for a meeting or event. People who use such business cards: dentists, hairdressers and others.

According to the layout

  • Image makers - using a special or expensive technology, it is assumed that an image is being created for the owner, for example "there is nothing impossible". The practice shows that this "image" is not always positive - these cards can reveal that the owner is snob or a kitsch lover;
  • Functional - the most popular cards with a practical focus and functionality, hence their name;
  • Unique - there is always opportunity for someone to surprise you with something "unseen" by now, such as business cards thermometers and clocks - they measure the ambient temperature and when you touch it - yours.
